The convex and chisel grinds are unique. A convex ground blade has a curved bevel, formed by each side of the blade being ground in a shallow arc to the cutting edge, with no micro bevel added. A pure chisel grind is created by grinding a pronounced primary bevel on only one side of the blade, leaving the opposite side flat.
